Pedigree profile of Rivendell Barbaresco

D.O.B 22/10/2019 - Rivendell Braveheart x Centadel x Concetto Famos (DK) x Mytenz xx

Rivendell Barbaresco is one of the first offspring of Rivendell Braveheart, who is by the stallion Balou du Rouet, who is among the top ten sires for both show-jumping and eventing in the world.

Balou du Rouet is not only by far the most successful son of his famous sire, the Olympic champion and three-time World Cup winner Baloubet du Rouet, but has also long been among the top ten of the world's best jumper sires according to WBFSH. He is also one of the ten best eventing sires in the world. Balou du Rouet owes this record, set for two years and therefore unique in the world, to the large number of successful offspring he has produced, led by the individual World Championship and European Championship bronze medallist as well as World Cup ninth placed show-jumper Bianca/Steve Guerdat/SUI and the European Championship gold medallist and individual ninth placed eventer Billy the Red/Kristina Cook/GBR. Further guarantors of success are: Saura de Fondcombe/Nadja Peter Steiner/SUI, European Championship team bronze winner, Brilliant du Rouet/Liubov Kochetova/RUS, World Championship participant, Babalou/Darragh Kenny/IRL, placed fourth in Aachen as well as Balou Rubin R/Pius Schwizer/SUI, Balance/Toni Haßmann and Baloubet/Mario Stevens etc. For the athletes registered in Germany alone, the total prize money won is above 3.8 million euros.

The winner of the Grand Prix of Munich, Balve and Spangenberg, Balzaci/Felix Haßmann, followed by Baccord/Gerrit Nieberg and Balous Bellini/Lutz Gripshöver, stand out in sport among the almost 60 licensed sons of Balou du Rouet. From a breeding point of view, two more premium stallions, the OS Reserve Champion Mare Honey Star and the Reserve Champion Colt and Champion Colt of the Goldfever Ring at the German Foal Championships have recently been added to the list of his successful offspring.

Balou du Rouet started his own career with the final score of 9.2 at 30-day test in Vechta. After serial victories in young horse classes, he won the qualification round at the German Championships with a score of 9.2, came eighth in the final of the six-year-olds and won show-jumping competitions up to 3*.

His dam Georgia also produced Cornet’s Balou (by Cornet Obolensky), licensed stallion and German Champion, and Chatinue (by Chacco-Blue)/Patrick Döller, successful in 3* competitions.

The Oldenburg dam's sire Continue is also the dam's sire of Antello Z/Cameron Hanley/IRL, who took part in the World Championships and European Championships, Baloufina/Cian O'Connor/IRL and Camilla/Denis Lynch/IRL.

His grand-dam Georgette II also produced Sandrissimo (v. Sandro), licensed stallion and successful at advanced (S) level.

The sires Domino, Gepard and Granit, who appear in the earlier generations of Balou du Rouet’s pedigree, have had a lasting influence on the mare base of Paul Schockemöhle’s stud.

Braveheart’s dam, the imported premium mare Calvyra Z, was by the stallion Calvaro Z. Calvaro’s sire Caletto I, is famous for producing showjumpers. His mother Deka by Consul made breeding history as mother of five approved sons. Caletto I was one of the most successful horses in showjumping. Calvaro’s dam Rixa, is a daughter of one of the most famous stallions, Capitol I. He produced Grand Prix jumpers and approved stallions like, Carthago Z., Cento, Cassini I, Capriol, Indoctro, Cumano etc. In Calvaro’s dam lineage there is the influential Farnese son Fantus to a Hanoverian female line that carries the blood of Sesam II and Goldfisch II, one of the most influential bloodlines in Hannover.

The great damsire of Braveheart, is the well-known stallion Ramiro Z, who in a lifespan of thirty years as a sporthorse and breeding sire earned the titles 'Stallion of the Century' and "King of Sires."  His progeny can be described with one word: sublime. One of his daughters, the super-mare Ratina Z, is the dream of the show jumping world, winning double Olympic gold medals (1992 and 1996) at the Barcelona Olympics, and the World Cup of 1993. Ramiro still ranks number 16 on the 2003 World Breeding Federation jumping stallion rankings. He is arguably the most influential jumping stallion ever...

Calvyra Z is also the dam of Rivendell Sirandipity, Rivendell Numerology, Rivendell Champagne, Rivendell Cilantro and Rivendell Lamborghini.

Barbaresco’s dam, Rivendell Cinzano, is by imported semen of the stallion Centadel.  Centadel, has in his pedigree the combination of Cento and Landadel giving him the perfect blend of top Holsteiner bloodlines.  Olympic gold medal winner Cento won over one million euro in prize money and Landadel was simply a breeding genius.  Centadel has already demonstrated his outstanding jumping ability by winning novice horse classes up to 1.30m level and coming third in the Bundeschampionate quialifier in warendorf.  There are no limits to his scope, his jumping technique is close to perfect and he has got a brilliant attitude.  Centadel’s pedigree is also strongly performance orientated in the earlier generations.  Grandsire, thoroughbred Black Sky xx, adds resilience and noble blood, while great grandsire Gotthard has been a consistent producer of top show-jumping horses.  The dam’s line is directly descended from the very successful show jumper Governor, who was ridden by Philippe Lejeune and Michael Whitaker.

Cinzano’s dam Carla was bought in 2006 as a two-year old in Germany as we were amazed by her elasticity, cadence and attitude at this age.

Carla’s sire, Concetto Famos, was successful under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum in Grand Prix, Nations Cups and the Hamburg Derby, Concetto Famos now impressively continues his career in the breeding sector.

Two of his sons have been licensed: the first in Westphalia who was sold for 100,000 Euros and the second, a premium stallion at the Southern German Hengsttage, who sold for 50,000 Euros.

Among Concetto's foals there were many show winners, also in 2008 at the shows in Donzdorf and Heiligenfeld. In 2004 a Concetto Famos filly took seventh place in the German Foal Championships in Lienen. Other offspring are now successful at medium (M*) level such as Concetto son/Hilmar Meyer, Cornetto/Joachim Heyer and the ribbon winning Bundeschampionat finalist, Con Palermo, who was one of the most expensive at the P.S.I. auction.

His Holsteiner sire Caletto I won team bronze at the 1983 EC in Hickstead/GBR under Dr. Michael Rüping. Among his 30 licensed sons you find Calvaro Z, Cambridge and Cantus. His Danish bred dam, St.Pr.St. Sif, is a granddaughter of the trademark stallion Ramiro through Racot. In the third generation you find the Trakehner stallion Isländer who comes from the famous Isola Longa family.

Damsire Mytens xx, has recent;y become very popular and desireable in sporthorse breeding.

Mytens was born in the United States and sold to Britain as a yearling. He was very successful in training as a 2 year old and at the start of his 3 year old career until a tendon injury forced his retirement from racing. As a breeding stallion, in 1989/90 he was entered into the stallion competitions and was unique as the only Thoroughbred stallion to have completed all seven competitions including the finals.

Myten's sire Spectacular Bid xx won 26 of his 30 starts and as a 3 year old and was unbeaten in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, but finished third in the Belmont Stakes, just missing victory in the world renowned Triple Crown. He later won the Marlboro and the Meadowlands Cup. He finished his career following an unbeaten season and 4 track records, claimed victory in the California's Strub series, and the Washington Park Handicap, set a career earnings record, and gained the prestigious title of Horse of the Year. As recognition of his overwhelming career he joined the Hall of Fame in 1982. His pedigree can be traced back via Bold Ruler to the legendary stallions Nasrullah and Nearco.

Mytens dam's sire Hoist the Flag is one of the more prestigious stallions in the United States.  In 1990 his first yearling fillies came up for inspection and Mytens fillies were successful at 3 provincial shows by taking the reserve champion. At the yearling show for Thoroughbreds, two Mytens colts gained a first premium, of which one was champion. Other successful offspring by Mytens include the 1999 winner of the German Young Event Championship; Magic Michael, currently competing at Prix St George and Harrison Himself, now competing in dressage at Prix St George and highly successful in combined dressage and jumping competitions. He stands at 8th place in the BHD rankings for his own winnings. In 2000 Mytens was the third placed sire for points earned by offspring in the hunter section on the NAWPN.

Mytens shows great technique and power that is successfully passed onto his progeny, along with his attractive conformation, stunning movement and jumping ability.

Carla’s first offspring by the stallion Bono van de Kiekenhof is competing in the open showjumping classes.
