Pedigree profile of Rivendell Zinfandel

D.O.B. 13/12/2019 - Rivendell Braveheart x Larino (KWPN) x Iroko (KWPN)

Rivendell Zinfandel is one of the first offspring of Rivendell Braveheart, who is by the stallion Balou du Rouet, who is among the top ten sires for both show-jumping and eventing in the world.  She is also a filly which will be retained by the stud to replace her dam as well as her granddam.

Balou du Rouet is not only by far the most successful son of his famous sire, the Olympic champion and three-time World Cup winner Baloubet du Rouet, but has also long been among the top ten of the world's best jumper sires according to WBFSH. He is also one of the ten best eventing sires in the world. Balou du Rouet owes this record, set for two years and therefore unique in the world, to the large number of successful offspring he has produced, led by the individual World Championship and European Championship bronze medallist as well as World Cup ninth placed show-jumper Bianca/Steve Guerdat/SUI and the European Championship gold medallist and individual ninth placed eventer Billy the Red/Kristina Cook/GBR. Further guarantors of success are: Saura de Fondcombe/Nadja Peter Steiner/SUI, European Championship team bronze winner, Brilliant du Rouet/Liubov Kochetova/RUS, World Championship participant, Babalou/Darragh Kenny/IRL, placed fourth in Aachen as well as Balou Rubin R/Pius Schwizer/SUI, Balance/Toni Haßmann and Baloubet/Mario Stevens etc. For the athletes registered in Germany alone, the total prize money won is above 3.8 million euros.

The winner of the Grand Prix of Munich, Balve and Spangenberg, Balzaci/Felix Haßmann, followed by Baccord/Gerrit Nieberg and Balous Bellini/Lutz Gripshöver, stand out in sport among the almost 60 licensed sons of Balou du Rouet. From a breeding point of view, two more premium stallions, the OS Reserve Champion Mare Honey Star and the Reserve Champion Colt and Champion Colt of the Goldfever Ring at the German Foal Championships have recently been added to the list of his successful offspring.

Balou du Rouet started his own career with the final score of 9.2 at 30-day test in Vechta. After serial victories in young horse classes, he won the qualification round at the German Championships with a score of 9.2, came eighth in the final of the six-year-olds and won show-jumping competitions up to 3*.

His dam Georgia also produced Cornet’s Balou (by Cornet Obolensky), licensed stallion and German Champion, and Chatinue (by Chacco-Blue)/Patrick Döller, successful in 3* competitions.

The Oldenburg dam's sire Continue is also the dam's sire of Antello Z/Cameron Hanley/IRL, who took part in the World Championships and European Championships, Baloufina/Cian O'Connor/IRL and Camilla/Denis Lynch/IRL.

His grand-dam Georgette II also produced Sandrissimo (v. Sandro), licensed stallion and successful at advanced (S) level.

The sires Domino, Gepard and Granit, who appear in the earlier generations of Balou du Rouet’s pedigree, have had a lasting influence on the mare base of Paul Schockemöhle’s stud.

Braveheart’s dam, the imported premium mare Calvyra Z, was by the stallion Calvaro Z. Calvaro’s sire Caletto I, is famous for producing showjumpers. His mother Deka by Consul made breeding history as mother of five approved sons. Caletto I was one of the most successful horses in showjumping. Calvaro’s dam Rixa, is a daughter of one of the most famous stallions, Capitol I. He produced Grand Prix jumpers and approved stallions like, Carthago Z., Cento, Cassini I, Capriol, Indoctro, Cumano etc. In Calvaro’s dam lineage there is the influential Farnese son Fantus to a Hanoverian female line that carries the blood of Sesam II and Goldfisch II, one of the most influential bloodlines in Hannover.

The great damsire of Braveheart, is the well-known stallion Ramiro Z, who in a lifespan of thirty years as a sporthorse and breeding sire earned the titles 'Stallion of the Century' and "King of Sires."  His progeny can be described with one word: sublime. One of his daughters, the super-mare Ratina Z, is the dream of the show jumping world, winning double Olympic gold medals (1992 and 1996) at the Barcelona Olympics, and the World Cup of 1993. Ramiro still ranks number 16 on the 2003 World Breeding Federation jumping stallion rankings. He is arguably the most influential jumping stallion ever...

Calvyra Z is also the dam of Rivendell Sirandipity, Rivendell Numerology, Rivendell Champagne, Rivendell Cilantro and Rivendell Lamborghini.

Zinfandel’s dam is the mare Zivana, whois by the grey stallion Larino, a son of the sports horse producer of the 21st century, Olympic Concorde. Concorde already has a great number of children that perform at international level.

Larino has in his pedigree four famous and successful showjumper producers. Larino's dam Erina is a daughter of the famous Ramiro offspring, Armstrong. In the report the KWPN judge made, she is described as a very nice mare with a lot of expression.

The stallion Larino is out of a lineage that produced many sports horses in the motherline. For example great grandmother Rosalinda (Cassy) got a 10 for jumping under the saddle at her IBOP in 1981. At an older age this mare won many 1.30 classes with Janny Horsey.

Grandmother Warina, by Ridder, is a ster-preferent-performance mare. She produced the international jumper Romulus, who was second in the Grand Prix of Gothenburg with Peter Geerink and the approved stallion Couperus. He is for example the sire of the famous stallion Mr. Blue, who jumps extraordinary well with Alice Haas.

At Ermelo during the 70 day Performance Test, Larino was described by the jury as a stallion who jumps with a very good fore-leg technique and a very good use of the back. Moreover Larino shows a lot of scope and a superb canter.

Larino was Reserve Champion of the IAN-competition for 4 year old horses in 1997 in the Netherlands and also at the Finals of the UTV jumping class for 4 year olds. At the first round of the Stallion Competition at Giesbeek Larino was awarded two times a nine for his jumping technique and scope.

In 1999 Larino and Peter Geerink started their international career by participating successfully in the Youngster Cup at Arnhem, The Hague and Mechelen and he was awarded the best young stallion. In 2001 Larino made his Grand Prix debut in style. He finished 2th in The Hague, 3th in Valkenswaard and he had a fantastic clear round in the nations cup in Rotterdam, as well as equal 6th in the Grand Prix. He was the youngest competitor at the Dutch Championships in Mierlo, where he finished 6th. His oldest offspring, Redefin and Siep, are making a big impact on the jumping scene by winning at the IAN-finals at Ermelo in 2002 and 2003. Larino¹s offspring now have international publicity. Redefin was sold to Canadian Olympic rider Ian Millar and Rivel C. went to Kris Kappler in the USA.

Zivana’s damsire Iroko is one of the most influential Sires to stand in Ireland today. His Keur Award has proved itself over and over as he is a leading sire of Stallion sons, brood mares, World Cup progeny in both Dressage & Showjumping, and now also eventing.

His sire Pilot is famously know as jumping progenitor of the nineties, claiming a top ranking in the german index with 193 points. Pilot alos produced Everest Showtime, Panama and Pinnochio, the latter who's grand dam is a full sisiter to Irokos grand dam. Iroko is bred out of the State Premium Awarded Mare, Bianca, a daughter of the famous Sire Bengale.  Bengals's offspring won over half a million pounds in the showjumping sport.  Biana relates back to the Stallion Remus, who is also sire of Renoir and Romandour II, both top dressage Sires.

Iroko proved himself over and over in the showjumping sport with winnings to numerous to mention, which included a 2nd in the Grand Prix in Zuidlaren, 1st in Grand Prix of Leeuwarden, and 4th in Verona. Iroko was leading the KWPN Index with 177 points in 2000 and 2001, and was leading sire of showjumpers in North America.

Iroko's offspring as famous all over the world, The Fly with Todd Minikus win the overall championship for 6 year old horses before going on to become a World Cup winner. Closer to home, Irish rider Darragh Kerins, won the Grand Prix of New York with Nabucca (by Iroko) in 2004.    Reo, and Michael Cave, won teh 6/7 year old Championships on Belfast 2004.

Zivana’s greatdamsire Burggraaf was very successful in the heavier classes of the National Stallion Competition, of which he won the finals and six of the seven rounds. Later he was an international showjumper with Roelof Bril; they cleared the 2.10 m during the puissance of Indoor Brabant in 1991 and in 1993 they were reserve champion of the 1.40 class for KWPN stallions. Burggraaf has a very high jumping index of 152 points.

Burggraaf’s sire is the top breeding stallion Landgraf I, who produced over 50 approved stallions and over 70 state premium mares just in Germany, and heads the German yearbook with the total winnings of his progeny of over 6 million D-Marks. Burggraaf’s dam’s sire is the famous sports horse producer Cor de la Bry who holds second place in the German yearbook with total winnings of around 2 million D-Marks.
