Pedigree profile of Rivendell Gypsy

D.O.B. 25/11/2020 - Highflyer (Imp Hann) x Ampere (Imp KWPN) x Sandreo

Gypsy is a strikingly beautiful dark bay filly.  She is the first foal of Gaia and we would like to retain her for the stud.  She is by the imported Hanoverian stallion Highflyer, who is by Blue Hors Hotline, who has proven his worth in international dressage and as a breeding stallion.

In 2016, he had places at the CDIs in Drachten, Herning, Hagen, Odense and Ålborg, as well as a 3rd place with the Danish dressage team at the CDIO in Aachen. Furthermore, he secured an excellent overall 4th place at the Danish Championship in Broholm.

Hotline offspring continues to produce strong results at competitions home and abroad. In Denmark, the Danish Warmblood Mare of the Year in 2010, Sirikit, and rider Carina Nevermann Torup, are on their way in the Grand Prix, while Heiline’s Hot Mix with rider Carina Cassøe Krüth most recently won the 2015 Bundgaard Byg final. Hotline offspring are doing well, also in Germany and The Netherlands, in the small tour and in Grand Prix classes for 8 – 10 year olds horses. There are now over 40 Hotline progeny that have achieved places in S-Dressage.

Hotline was the superior winner of his 70-day performance test in Schlieckau with 137.34 points, 10 points more than number two. In dressage, he scored a 10 from both test riders and finished his performance test with a dressage index of 149.28 points! Since then, he has dominated the young horse championships in Denmark.

Hotline was champion stallion of the Hanoverian licensing in 2005 and impressed the audience with his amazing performance. Hotline’s sire Hofrat was Trakehner Stallion of the Year at the Trakehner licensing in Neumünster in 2000. Dam sire De Niro is one of the most successful sons of Donnerhall, both in sport and in breeding. De Niro himself is a Grand Prix winner and sire of numerous licensed stallions, State Premium mares, auction horses and championship horses.

Gypsy’s dam Gaia was bought as a foal at the foot of her dam Dageraad Blossem from the liquidation auction of the Dutch warmblood stud in South Africa.  As she had not been registered by them, we registered her and she got the prefix Rivendell.  Gaia was backed and then bought by a good friend as a competition horse.  After several years, she has come back to the stud as a broodmare and we are very happy to have her with us.

Gaia is by the stallion Ampere, who is a world class champion stallion.

It all started when he left the arena as the most expensive foal at the Borculo Foal Auction. In February 2008 at the stallion show Den Bosch, he made the hearts of many spectators beat faster, and became the convincing champion of the stallion show. After that, the breathtaking bay stallion became the undoubtable winner of the 70 day performance test in Ermelo. Dream scores mark his extraordinary qualities: walk 8, trot 9, canter 9.5, suppleness 9, self-carriage & balance 8.5, and ridability, work ethics, and talent for dressage 9. Test riders described the stallion as the best stallion in years. The exemplary stallion presents himself extremely highbred with overwhelming and striking charm, beautiful neck and breathtaking body.

Over and over again he convinces jury members and spectators with his brilliant type combined with three fantastic basic gaits. With his modern riding horse type, Ampère has justified the title top stud. Ampère is the third stallion show champion in a row of the sire, Rousseau. Rousseau himself was silver medallist at the World Championship for young horses in 2003. Ampère's damsire, Flemmingh, is the sire of many Grand Prix horses like Krack C ridden by Anky van Grunsven, and Lingh ridden by Edward Gal. Ampère's dam, Larivola, has the predicate “keur”.

Ampere was a success from the start, when he left the arena as the most expensive foal at the foal auction in Borculo. He is a noble and elegant stallion with a beautiful head, and is of a very good, modern type. He has excellent conformation; a well formed neck, correctl shoulders, his withers are well developed and have good length, and his legs are strong and perfectly proportioned to his body. His walk is very clean and consistent and he covers ground easily. The trot is big, well balanced and powerful. The canter is dynamic, uphill, and well balanced. Ampère moves in natural self-carriage, with a lot of natural balance and suppleness, with very strong hindlegs.

Ampere was the runaway winner of his 2008 KWPN licensing, becoming the third successive son of Rousseau to take the title, with Zack and Wamberto preceding him. He then won his 70-day performance test in Ermelo with outstanding scores and much praise from the test riders, who described him as the best horse they had ridden in year. He was awarded an 8.0 for his walk, 9.0 for his trot and 9.5 for his canter, and received three scores of 9.0 for rideability from the test riders.

His sire Rousseau is by the international dressage stallion Ferro, who competed at the European Championship, WEG and the Olympics, bringing home team silver in Sydney 2000. Rousseau himself won his performance test, won the Pavo Cup with a record breaking score - both test riders gave him 10.0 - and took home the silver medal at the World Young Horse Championships as a five-year-old.

Damsire Flemmingh, a jumper himself, adds plenty of athleticism and is famous for producing the grand prix dressage horses and super-sires Krack C and Lingh. Dam Larivola carries the keur predicate, and has produced another licensed son, Emerson, by the Rousseau son Wynton. The dam line has produced many successful dressage, jumping and eventing horses including the licensed stallions Mythos (by Mythens xx) and Gringo (by Ramiro).

From the KWPN foal report Ampere is noted to pass on very good movement, producing a uniform collection of foals from a range of different mares. The trot shows good length of stride and very good use of the body. The foals have a good, easy canter, with lots of balance and self-carriage, they also collect well. Ampere has had offspring licensed in Westfalia, Holstein, Oldenburg, KWPN and one of his foals has sold for €200,000 in Vechta.

Ampere's stallion sons set him apart. Now, many German, Danish and Dutch studs have made sure they have an Ampere on their roster, with Antango, First Ampere, Franklin and All At Once already proving very successful sires. His oldest crops are now emerging at small tour level, with Emerald S (damsire Jazz) scoring +71% on three of his four international starts so far in 2017, and Ecuador VD winning the young rider small tour class at Biarritz 2016. The premium licensed Hannovarian stallion Nymphenburg's First Ampere achieved a triple victory at the Young Riders' Nations cup at Mariakalnok 2019- with +72% in the individual and kur. Ampere does not produce chestnuts.

Gaia’s dam is by the stallion Sandreo, a son of Sandro Hit (by Sandro Song), Sandreo is a very beautiful stallion with a lot of blood and presence. His sire Sandro Hit won several titles in Germany in the Bundeschampionat as well as being World Champion. Dam Prettify is a daughter of Flemmingh who was declared ‘keur’ on the grounds of the dressage ability of his progeny, including the Grand-Prix horses, Krack C and Lingh.

Sandreo has a very good trot with a beautiful foreleg technique, and an outstanding canter. Sandreo is a stallion whose pedigree lays the foundations for the breeding of top class dressage horses.

Sandreo won both the final and the total stallion competition in 2005 at Hertogenbosch with Hans Peter Minderhoud.
