Alzu Observation

Observation competed up to 1.35m under owner and rider Jessica Pickard. An unfortunate tendon injury put an end to her competition career, and hence she is on loan to Rivendell Stud for breeding purposes. Rivendell Stud always would have liked a mare by sire Optimum van der Wellington, so the opportunity was perfect.

Bijou

Bijou was bought in 2006 as a young mare in Germany. She was inseminated with semen from the stallion Chacco Blue before flying to RSA, and produced a filly, ‘Rivendell Blu’. Bijou competed in dressage up to elementary level, achieving an individual fourth place at the SA dressage championships in Port Elizabeth, before commencing her show-jumping career in 2012.

Bronwydd Bannutt Camelia

Camelia has been going to SA Champs since she was three. She was on the Eastern Province Dressage and Showing Team with first Kate Scallen and then Michelle Glover. She is still the love of Ella de Nicola’s life. They were the WP show riding pony in the 2008 team.

Carla

Carla was bought in 2006 as a two year old in Germany as we were amazed by her elasticity, cadence and attitude at this age. She was inseminated using Quintender semen, but sadly did not produce a foal before leaving Germany.

Casino luck

Casino Luck is the porcelain doll of the stud. Classically beautiful as a true English thoroughbred, consistently producing offspring that are all beautifully conformed and easy to work with. Due to her movement, she has been put mainly to dressage sires, but true to her pedigree, she will now start producing foals more suited to the showjumping arena as well. Casino will be replaced in the stud one day by her filly Rivendell Chillipepper by imported stallion Waikiki of Wadacre.

Chief Empress

Chief Empress, or Topsy, as she is known is one of a handful of thoroughbred mares in RSA ever to have received premium status with the SAWHS. It was hence an easy decision, to have her on loan from her owner Mrs Danika Vermaak for breeding purposes.

Compton House Flower Power

Flower Power was originally bought by Mr Henk Scholtz as a future riding prospect for him. Unfortunately the mare did not grow to be tall enough for Henk and other reasons resulted in him not selling the horse. Rivendell stud was offered the use of the mare for stud purposes and we were happy to take her into our mare group.

Davenport Papillon

Papillon is owned by Mrs Karin Blignaut, and we were fortunate to lease her for a breeding season due to an injury. Papillon was produced by Karin and competed up to Prix St Georg level in dressage, highly successfully.
