Rivendell Dolcetto
D.O.B. 26/10/2019
Dolcetto is a tall and leggy dark bay colt with a special pedigree. He is the last offspring of the stallion Danzas out of Dageraad Blossom whom I competed up to elementary level dressage.
Danzas was a stallion with the highest international performance record in dressage ever to have stood in South Africa. He was by the legendary stallion De Niro, and looked a lot like him. At the end of his competitive career, his owner Dom Tardin, stationed him at Rivendell for his last season. His legacy will live on through his progeny so Dolcetto has big shoes to fill.
De Niro, 2008 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year, was referred to as “the embodiment of the Hanoverian stallion.” De Niro was an exceptional stallion of superlative type and performance, with a wonderful combination of the best bloodlines of Oldenburg and Trakehner, with a dash of Thoroughbred, insuring success as a sire of noble sport horses. He became a legend as a dressage sire as well as having been very successful in the sport himself.
1997: De Niro was the Reserve Champion of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf with an overall 141.93 and was the winner in dressage with a score of 145.41.
2000: at the age of 7, De NIro was already successful in Grand Prix
2001: De Niro wins at the German Championships for Professional riders
2002: international wins in Grand Prix and GP special
2003: de Niro wins the German Dressage Derby in Hamburg
2004: De Niro’s son Dancier becomes the Hanoverian licensing champion
2005:De Niro is the damsire of the Hanoverian licensing champion
2006: De Niro has the largest contingency of offspring at the Bundeschampionat
2007: De Niro’s son, Devereaux is the World Champion of the 6 year old Dressage horses
2008: De Niro is named Hanoverian stallion of the year
2009: De Niro has two offspring in the European championships, and with Dablino the most successful developing Grand Prix horse
2010: De Niro is placed 5thon the WBFSH
2011:De Niro offspring earn over 230000 Euro in winnings
2012: A total of 6 offspring travel to the Olympic games in London
De Niro’s most successful son Desperados’ success story continues: After winning the 2010 German Dressage Derby in Hamburg, spectacular highlights followed in 2011 & 2012. Under his rider, Kristina Sprehe, he dominated the show in Oldenburg in Grand Prix as well as the Grand Prix Special. The couple left all competitors behind in the Piaff Sponsorship Prize, and were also awarded the Otto Löhrke Prize by the German Equestrian Olympic Committee. In December 2011, they were appointed members of the German dressage championship team, and in 2012, the Hanoverian Verband bestowed the honor of Grande Prize upon the stallion before he and the young Kristina went on to team bronze at the Olympic Games in London.
Key points of his career: Desperados was a premium stallion at the Hanoverian December licensing in 2004 in Verden. He had already taken his 30-day test in Schlieckau, finishing with the highest scores (including a 9.5 for his canter and a 9.0 from both of the guest riders). Numerous victories in tests for young riding horses, including the 2004 Hanoverian Championships in Verden as well as bronze twice at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf in 2004 and 2005. Selectively further trained, he won and placed amongst the best in St. Georg and Intermédiaire I in Hamburg and Neumünster under Falk Rosenbauer. In 2009, the duo successfully competed in the Final of the Nürnberg Burg Pokal. In 2010, Desperados not only won the German Derby but also a qualifier in the Medien Cup, and then placed in the Final.
The black Hanoverian stallion De Niro won the I-a main premium in Oldenburg in 1997 for his own record in sport and the quality of his first crop. By the time De Niro was seven, he made a successful debut in the Grand Prix dressage ring and later collected numerous first place ribbons in Nations Cups, the German Dressage Derby and at the German Championships for Professional Riders. In 2008 he was bestowed a special honor: the “Hanoverian Stallion of the Year” award. His dam, Wie Musik, is by Wolkenstein II. This chestnut stallion was the Reserve Champion of the 1992 licensing in Verden, 1993 Bundeschampion of German Riding Horses in Mannheim and won his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1993.
De Niro has proven himself through his own performance in the show ring and through his offspring’s exceptional achievements.
Blossom is sired by the talented KWPN Stallion Sandreo, who combines in his pedigree the best of European Dressage blood. Sire Sandro Hit (Sandro Song) gained world fame when, under Dr. Ulf Moller, he won the title for six-year-olds at the World Championships for young dressage horses in Verden. The impressive Sandro Hit daughter Poetin, followed, four years later, in her famous father’s footsteps and won that much-desired World Title.
As well as this, with a short period of time, Sandro Hit established a stallion line with more than 20 licensed sons. On his dam’s side Sandreo carries the valuable dressage blood of FlemmingH (Lacapo). This Holstein stallion produced a series of successful dressage horses of which Lingh (Edward Gal) and Krack C (Anky van Grunsven) are the most well known.
Sandreo’s dam line goes back, via the stallions Ahorn, Zevenster and Oracle, to a renowned Gelders family (NL mares line 003). This famous ‘prestatie’ stock also produced the International and National Dressage hoses Benno (Pericles xx) and Kasjmir (Clavecimbel) as well as the stallions Havidoff (Clavecimbel), Caritas (Vanitas), Bredero (Notaris) and Fighting Alpha (Fruhling).
Sandreo more than confirmed the value of his pedigree. As a 4-year-old he won the PAVO-Cup in convincing manner. His guest rider Rien van der Schaft awarded the stallion even as many as 95 points. Then Sandreo continued his success by winning the Stallion Competition. Also Sandreo’s offspring are more than noteworthy at selections and foal auctions. The Stallion received a fine offspring report, which mentions ‘a uniform group of high-legged, riding-type foals with great charisma, who display a lot of self carriage and suppleness in action’.
Blossem’s dam Linda was an imported mare by the stallion Landwind.
