Pedigree Profle of Rivendell Siren

Rivendell Siren is as beautiful as her mother is, just as a chestnut filly who will be turning grey. Siren is out of Sonata CCS who is a beautiful dark bay mare, who was awarded premium status with the SAWHS. She also competed up to 1.20m level with her owner Vicky Reuvers. Due to soundness issues this special girl was offered to me to use as a broodmare.

Sonata is by the stallion Dageraad Siem, who is by Voltaire. Siem competed successfully in the show-jumping arena and was always an extremely beautiful and rideable stallion, who looked after his rider at all times with his honesty and braveness.

Voltaire is the result of crossing two outstanding bloodlines: Furioso II and Gotthard. Furioso II produced 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved stallions of which several are standing at stud in other continents. One can easily say that Furioso II has influenced the breeding industry worldwide. The full brother of Furioso II is the French stallion Mexico. His son Le Mexico is a familiar name in Dutch breeding and frequently appears in the pedigrees of successful showjumpers. The dam’s sire Gotthard is, now more than fifteen years after his death, almost a legend in German sports horse breeding. Gotthard’s strength is continued in his sons and grandsons.
Vital in Voltaire’s pedigree is the connection in the third generation to the thoroughbreds More Magic xx on one side and on the other side Furioso xx. As an 8 year old Voltaire jumped 1.50 m. courses with a great deal of success. He showed his strength in international jumping in 1988 in Calgary, Stockholm, Lanaken, Helsinki, Wiesbaden and Wembley and in 1989 he brought his showjumping career to a successful ending by winning the Grand Prix of Berlin with Jos Lansink and 2nd in the Grand Prix of Leeuwarden.
Voltaire was the sire with the most offspring at the Olympic Games of Atlanta in 1996. Moreover the world-famous Voltaire was also second on the World Breeding Ranking of Showjumping Sires. Voltaire has over 50 approved sons. Many of his offspring jump at Grand Prix level, i.e. Finesse, Altaire, Kahlua, Play it Again, Helios, Electro, Kannan, Especial etc. etc. Foltaire, ridden by G?nther Seidel is a famous offspring of Voltaire in the international dressage ring. Voltaire has been awarded Huntersire of the Year 2001, 2002 and 2003? in the USA! At the moment Voltaire is one of the top sires in the KWPN Jumping Index with 151 points.
Sonata’s dam was Alzu Oakley, by Optimum van de Wellington, an impoted Belgium Warmblood, who on his damside also has Voltaire. Optimum was a stallion who was licensed by the SAWHS on performance. He was by the stallion Randel Z who was by Ramiro Z. Oakley was a super showjumper with many successes in the open classes.
In 2014, Randel Z was the sire of the top showjumper in the world.
After the end of the Final Four at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy Jeroen Dubbeldam was crowned world champion. The best horse throughout the competition was Cortes C from Beezie Madden, who earned the bronze. Her horse, a son of Randel Z, only had a single jumping fault in all the nine rounds of the championship with more than 150 competitors. In the horse exchange on the Sunday, he was the only horse to go clear under all four riders.

Randel Z was born in Lanaken at Domain Zangersheide thirty years ago. He is still standing at stud at the Walloon stallion station Haras des Aucels of Pascal Rigaud. Like Ratina Z, Robin I & II Z and Riviera Z, he is a product of the combination Ramiro Z x Almé Z. His grandam was one of the many Hanoverian Gotthard daughters offering their services at Zangersheide at the time. The dam of Randel is Alaric Z, a daughter of the Normandy stallion Alme Z. Alaric Z won several S-level competitions and earned platform places at the European Championships for junior riders under the Swedish Arnold Askinson.

Randel Z himself did not do badly in the sport, either. In 1989 he jumped ten clear rounds out of twelve in the Belgian cycle for 5-yr-olds and finished in fifth place. That year he also finished fourth in the finals of the BC in Gesves. Two years later he won the finals for 6- and 7-yr-olds in Bavikhove and also that year’s stallion competition of Jumping Mechelen. Then he moved for a year to the showjumping stables of Ludo Philippaerts. There he won in short time, in Belgian competitions alone, more than 100,000 Belgian francs under Ludo and Danny Verheyen. About twenty years ago this was a more than considerable amount to win in national competitions in Belgium.

Randel Z started his breeding career in Flanders. He was often used in East and West Flanders. In the past, his products Prudence de Bioagrico, Kilkenny Randall Z and Verelst Quebec were already noticed for their showjumping qualities. Meanwhile Randel also earned his metal in breeding as a sire of good broodmares. Some of his grand-children are Cicero Van Paemel Z, Lorrain Z, Vivaldo vh Costersveld, Best Mix Elien and Careful Z vh Hofterrijckel. Also Cornet Obolensky’s grandam is a daughter of Randel Z. It is therefore not really surprising that he turns out to have produced the best showjumping horse of this world championship in 2014.

Ramiro Z has become famous worldwide and is duly called the “Euro-stallion” of his day. “Preferent” Ramiro descends from the famous male lineage combination Raimond-Ramzes X –rittersporn xx. The anglo arab Ramzes represents one of the basic bloodlines on which Holsteiner breeding has been founded. Ramzes gave a new dimension to sporthorse breeding.

Ramiro’s dam Valine, acquired international fame as a show jumper by the name of Corrale under Lutz Gossing. She was a daughter of the reputable thoroughbred Cottage Son xx, who became famos through his son Consul, sire of the influential progenitors Joost and Codex. Ramiro’s dam is from the lineage 776, one of the most valuable Holsteiner female bloodlines going back to Achill and Edelbert.

In 1969 Ramiro was the absolute top stallion of his performance year and was used not only for breeding but also successfully developed a jumping career under Fritz Ligges. He excelled in his puissance performance (up to 2.20m) as well as in competition where speed was essential. Ramiro moved to the Zangersheide studbook in 1979 and came to the Netherlands two years later. On the basis of his breeding efforts, which earned him worldwide fame, he was declared Horse of the year at Jumping Amsterdam in 1992. Ramiro is still found in the top of the indexes for jumping and dressage for many breed societies today, even despite having passed away several years ago.

His progeny can be described with one word: sublime. He sired a large number of stallions approved by the KWPN and abroad as well as an impressive collection of top sport horses. In the Netherlands his sons Almiro, Armstrong, Bernstein, Dageraad, Damiro, Elmero and Zeoliet all achieved fame. His daughter, the super-mare Ratina Z, was the dream of the show-jumping world, winning both gold and silver at the Barcelona Olympics as well as the Volvo World Cup of 1993. His progeny have proven themselves in dressage as well.

Siren is by our own stallion Rivendell Theoden, who is the only entire son of the legendary stallion Titanic. Titanic was one of the best showjumping stallions ever seen in South Africa.

Titanic was by the stallion Cavalier, who is one of the most successful KWPN stallions in international showjumping. By the name of San Patrignano Mister, this grey claimed major successes in the international arena with Franke Sloothaak. The combination won more than 40 international competitions; Grand Prix, Puissance and Speed classes. After his successful showjumping career, Cavalier returned to the Netherlands where he has been used for breeding ever since.

Offspring from Cavalier’s first breeding seasons are already successful. International showjumpers such as; Tinello Isha ridden by Albert Voorn, Blushing Groom under John Popely, Illusion under Jörne Sprehe and FAN Cavala ridden by Eddie Macken among the best known.

Like the famous Olympic jumper Felix, Cavalier is also a son of the sire Maykel. Cavalier’s dam Wina (s. Orthos) is a member of the reputable northern Netherlands Sina family. This excellent breeding family has produced numerous national and international sport horses such as the international showjumpers Piccolino (s. Notaris) under Renéé Tebbel, Maltstriker (s. Abgar xx) under Eric Wauters, Oleandra (s. Farn) under Peter Postelmans and Pierrot (s. Marco Polo) under Emile Hendrix. The stallion Quadrifoglio (s. Cavalier) who was very successful during the young horse championships at Zangersheide has already achieved great results in the international show jumping ring with Italian rider Jerry Smit.

Titanic’s damsire is the stallion Joost, a Holstein stallion who produced many international showjumping horses.

Theoden is out of the premium mare Zivana, who is by the stallion Larino.

Larino is a son of the sports horse producer of the 21st century, Olympic Concorde. Concorde already has a great number of children that perform at international level. Larino has in his pedigree four famous and successful showjumper producers. Larino’s dam Erina is a daughter of the famous Ramiro offspring, Armstrong. In the report the KWPN judge made, she is described as a very nice mare with a lot of expression. The stallion Larino is out of a lineage that produced many sports horses in the motherline. For example great grandmother Rosalinda (Cassy) got a 10 for jumping under the saddle at her IBOP in 1981. At an older age this mare won many 1.30 classes with Janny Horsey.

Grandmother Warina, by Ridder, is a ster-preferent-performance mare. She produced the international jumper Romulus, which was second in the Grand Prix of Gothenburg with Peter Geerink and the approved stallion Couperus. He is for example the sire of the famous stallion Mr. Blue, which jumps extraordinary well with Alice Haas. The very interesting motherline of Larino starts with the dominant Holsteiner stallion Normann. At Ermelo during the 70 day Performance Test, Larino was described by the jury as a stallion which jumps with a very good foreleg technique and a very good use of the back. Moreover Larino shows a lot of scope and a superb canter. Larino was Reserve Champion of the IAN-competition for 4 year old horses in 1997 in the Netherlands and also at the Finals of the UTV jumping class for 4 year olds. At the first round of the Stallion Competition at Giesbeek Larino was awarded two times a nine for his jumping technique and scope. In 1999 Larino and Peter Geerink started their international career by participating successfully in the Youngster Cup at Arnhem, The Hague and Mechelen and he was awarded ‘the coming stallion’. In 2001 Larino made his Grand Prix debut in style. He finished 2th in The Hague, 3th in Valkenswaard and he had a fantastic clear round in the nations cup in Rotterdam, as well as equal 6th in the Grand Prix. He was the youngest competitor at the Dutch Championships in Mierlo, where he finished 6th. His oldest offspring, Redefin and Siep, are making a big impact on the jumping scene by winning at the IAN-finals at Ermelo in 2002 and 2003. Larino’s offspring now have international publicity. Redefin was sold to Canadian Olympic rider Ian Millar and Rivel C. went to Kris Kappler in the USA.

Zivana’s damsire is the stallion Iroko.
Iroko is one of the most influential Sires to stand in Ireland today. His Keur Award has proved itself over and over as he is a leading sire of Stallion sons, brood mares, World Cup progeny in both Dressage & Showjumping, and now also eventing.

His sire Pilot is famously know as jumping progenitor of the nineties, claiming a top ranking in the german index with 193 points. Pilot alos produced Everest Showtime, Panama and Pinnochio, the latter who’s grand dam is a full sisiter to Irokos grand dam. Iroko is bred out of the State Premium Awarded Mare, Bianca, a daughter of the famous Sire Bengale. Bengals’s offspring won over half a million pounds in the showjumpoing sport. Biana relates back to the Stallion Remus, who is also sire of Renoir and Romandour II, both top dressage Sires.

Iroko proved himself over and over in the showjumping sport with winnings to numerous to mention, which included a 2nd in the Grand Prix in Zuidlaren, 1st in Grand Prix of Leeuwarden, and 4th in Verona. Iroko was leading the KWPN Index with 177 points in 2000 and 2001, and was leading sire of showjumpers in North America.

Iroko’s offspring as famous all over the world, The Fly with Todd Minikus win the overall championship for 6 year old horses before going on to become a World Cup winner. Closer to home, Irish rider Darragh Kerins, won the Grand Prix of New York with Nabucca (by Iroko) in 2004. Reo, and Michael Cave, won teh 6/7 year old Championships on Belfast 2004. Samurai and Albert Zoer is competing successfully on the World Cup tour and Golden Coin with Max Kuehner is a competing regularly at 1.60m level competition. Claddagh Iroko ( Iroko x Cruising) won the 5 year old Cavan Indoor Championship 2012 with rider Shane Goggins…
