Rivendell Tango

Pedigree profile of Rivendell Tango

Tango is the one of the last offspring of the imported Belgium stallion Titanic. Titanic was one of the best showjumping stallions ever seen in South Africa.

Titanic was by the stallion Cavalier, who is one of the most successful KWPN stallions in international showjumping. By the name of San Patrignano Mister, this grey claimed major successes in the international arena with Franke Sloothaak. The combination won more than 40 international competitions; Grand Prix, Puissance and Speed classes. After his successful showjumping career, Cavalier returned to the Netherlands where he has been used for breeding ever since.

Offspring from Cavalier’s first breeding seasons are already successful. International showjumpers such as; Tinello Isha ridden by Albert Voorn, Blushing Groom under John Popely, Illusion under Jörne Sprehe and FAN Cavala ridden by Eddie Macken among the best known.

Like the famous Olympic jumper Felix, Cavalier is also a son of the sire Maykel. Cavalier’s dam Wina (s. Orthos) is a member of the reputable northern Netherlands Sina family. This excellent breeding family has produced numerous national and international sport horses such as the international showjumpers Piccolino (s. Notaris) under Renéé Tebbel, Maltstriker (s. Abgar xx) under Eric Wauters, Oleandra (s. Farn) under Peter Postelmans and Pierrot (s. Marco Polo) under Emile Hendrix. The stallion Quadrifoglio (s. Cavalier) who was very successful during the young horse championships at Zangersheide has already achieved great results in the international show jumping ring with Italian rider Jerry Smit.

Titanic’s damsire is the stallion Joost, a Holstein stallion who produced many international showjumping horses.

Tango is out of the premium mare Rivendell’s Bijou. Bijou is by the now very well-known and legendary stallion Balou du Rouet, who is currently (2017) ranked as Number 7 in the world – The best son of his legendary father!

A sire of international standing, and this at a relatively young age:
In 2016, Balou du Rouet once again occupied 7th place in the WBFSH world show jumping ranking. So far, in Germany alone, 195 of Balou’s progeny are successful at advanced level/S level: the lifetime earnings of his descendants have already reached 2.6m euros. 51 of Balou’s sons have been licensed, including the internationally successful stallion Horse Gym’s Balzaci/Felix Haßmann (23 international victories, lifetime earnings over 320.000 euros), Bacardi OLD/Marc Bettinger (Sire of the World Lanaken 2015), Burberry/Jan Sprehe and Balloon/Shane Breen (IRL). Balance/Felix Haßmann, First Class van Eeckelghem/Daniel Deußer, Baloubet 4 and Brooklyn 17/Mario Stevens (2015 winner of Lanaken Grand Prix) are other examples of top horses by Balou.

Year after year, Balou´s progeny enrich the finals of the five and six-year-old show jumpers at the German national championships with recognisable frequency. Just as “Dad” did so himself: Balou du Rouet won 19 show jumping competitions, won the finals of the German national championships, achieving the highest mark of 9,2 and has been successful in advanced level/S level many times. Breeding highlights of 2016 were Balousino as premium stallion of the OS licensing in Vechta, and Botakara, 2015 reserve champion of the OS Elite mare show and 2016 regional champion of four-year-old show-jumpers in the Schlosspark of Rastede.
Other successful progeny include Balou Fina/Volker and Petra Höltgen, Balouna Windana/Philipp Makowei, Balounito/Johannes Ehning, Barnebee/Holger Wulschner, Bijou de Balou/Michael Fritsch, Bond James Bond/Robert Bruhns, PBM Best of Balou FBW/Uwe Carstensen und Zalou du Rouet/Kathrin Müller. Balou’s progeny, foals and sport horses, are much sought-after at auctions in Germany and abroad.

With such a first-class pedigree, success is inevitable. His sire Baloubet du Rouet, three times World Cup winner, winner of individual Olympic Gold with Rodrigo Pessoa and sire to a multitude of international sport horses, is a producer beyond any doubt. The dam Georgia also produced the licensed stallion Cornet´s Balou, winner of the German national championships of five-year-old show jumpers in 2011. Dam sire Continue combines two of the most appreciated Holstein performance genes of Contender and Tin Rocco.

From his time at stud in Oldenburg comes, amongst others, the licensed stallion Cowondo Z (Ldb./sire Moritzburg). Grand-dam Georgette II bred to Sandro, produced the licensed and successful in sport, Sandrissimo (privately owned stallion Oldbg., Hess., Mecklbg.). The performance breeding stallions Domino, Gepard and Granit stand in the third to fifth generations, stallions that characterise the mare base of the Paul Schockemöhle stables. The Westphalian dam line stems from the mare Filmkunde (by Film-Hallo III). Coming from this very effective and prosperous line is Daddy Cool, licensed in Mecklenburg in 2004, Le Sandro (privately owned stallion, Bawue.) and Lord Sandro (privately owned stallion, NL).

Bijou’s damsire is Pikoeur, who is also by a legendary showjumping stallion Pilot.

So without saying anything more, Tango is destined to become a top showjumper in his own right. Unfortunately Titanic died at the beginning of 2017, and Tango is currently the only entire son of his in South Africa.
