Rivendell Sultan Of Swing
D.O.B 20/10/2025 – Rivendell Sirandipity ( Sir Shutterfly x Calvaro Z x Ramiro Z ) x Levitha ( Levistus x Carpaccio )
Date of Birth: 20 October 2025
Sire: Rivendell Sirandipity — Sir Shutterfly × Calvaro Z × Ramiro Z
Dam: Levitha — Levistus × Carpaccio
Rivendell Sultan of Swing is an exciting young showjumping prospect whose pedigree combines generations of highly influential European jumping blood with proven performance close up on both sides of his pedigree.
What makes Sultan of Swing’s pedigree particularly appealing is that it is not based solely on famous names several generations removed. His sire, Rivendell Sirandipity, has already produced several open-level showjumpers, while his dam, Levitha, was herself a successful open-level showjumper. Levitha is recorded in South African competition at 1.35m, providing valuable evidence of performance directly through the maternal line.
Rivendell Sirandipity combines Sir Shutterfly, Calvaro Z and Ramiro Z — three names representing some particularly significant European sport-horse blood.
Sir Shutterfly was a Hanoverian stallion by Silvio I out of Famm, by Forrest xx. His pedigree is particularly interesting because he was a full brother to the legendary international showjumper Shutterfly, ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum.
Sir Shutterfly went on to establish his own breeding legacy. His progeny include horses successful in international sport; for example, FEI records show his son High Shutterfly competing at international 1.50m level. His influence also extended beyond pure showjumping: his daughter Shutterflyke competed at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games in eventing.
For Sultan of Swing’s pedigree, Sir Shutterfly therefore represents much more than a famous family name: he brings a performance family with demonstrated international sport credentials.
The next major influence is the great Calvaro Z, a Holsteiner by Caletto I out of Rixa, by Capitol I. His pedigree therefore combines two enormously important Holsteiner influences, with Cor de la Bryère appearing through Caletto I and Capitol I on the dam side.
Calvaro Z himself competed at international Grand Prix level, a performance level also recorded by the KWPN. He subsequently became an important jumping sire.
His presence adds another layer of genuine high-level showjumping performance to Sultan of Swing’s paternal pedigree.
Further back comes Ramiro Z, one of the historically important names associated with modern European showjumping breeding. Ramiro was by Raimond, with Cottage Son xx on the dam side, and combined his breeding career with a successful sport career that included Nations Cups, Puissance classes and international Grand Prix competition.
Perhaps the most famous illustration of Ramiro Z’s breeding influence is his daughter Ratina Z, one of the outstanding championship showjumpers of her era.
The presence of Ramiro Z behind Rivendell Sirandipity gives Sultan of Swing another connection to one of the foundations of international jumping breeding.
The Dam Line — Levitha
Sultan of Swing’s maternal pedigree is especially significant because the performance is not merely theoretical.
His dam, Levitha, by Levistus out of a Carpaccio mare, competed successfully at open level in South Africa, and South African Show Jumping records confirm her competing at 1.35m.
For a young horse such as Sultan of Swing, having a dam who has herself demonstrated the ability to perform at open level is an important feature of the pedigree.
Levitha’s sire Levistus is by the international showjumper and breeding stallion Levisto Z, with San Juan appearing on his dam side. Levistus himself was developed through the higher levels of German showjumping and had reached S-level competition while still relatively young.
The pedigree becomes even more interesting through Levisto Z. Levisto was by Leandro, whose pedigree goes back to the hugely influential Landgraf I, while Levisto’s maternal side brings in Carolus I and therefore another concentration of classic Holsteiner jumping blood.
Levisto Z himself became a 1.60m international Grand Prix showjumper and twice won the Sires of the World competition at Lanaken.
This makes the Levistus influence in Sultan of Swing particularly valuable: it connects his dam’s own proven open-level performance to generations of established jumping blood behind her.
Levitha’s maternal pedigree brings in Carpaccio, a Holsteiner stallion by the celebrated Caretino out of Bettina II, by Lantaan.
Carpaccio’s pedigree contains another concentration of influential Holsteiner blood. Through Caretino he descends from Caletto II and Cor de la Bryère, while his maternal line through Lantaan brings in Ladykiller xx.
Interestingly, Carpaccio’s performance test demonstrated considerable versatility: he reportedly finished first of 53 stallions, with strong results in both dressage and jumping. This versatility adds another dimension to the maternal pedigree.
Viewed as a whole, Sultan of Swing’s pedigree brings together an impressive collection of influential names:
Sir Shutterfly × Calvaro Z × Ramiro Z
over
Levistus × Carpaccio
Behind those names lie further major influences including Silvio I, Caletto I, Capitol I, Cor de la Bryère, Levisto Z, Leandro, Landgraf I, Carolus I, Caretino and Ladykiller xx.
Most importantly, however, the pedigree has proven performance close up. Rivendell Sirandipity has already produced several open showjumpers, while Levitha herself competed successfully at open level.
That combination gives Rivendell Sultan of Swing a pedigree built not simply around celebrated ancestors, but around performance that continues through the more immediate generations. As a 2025-born youngster, his own ability remains for the future to reveal, but on paper he carries a particularly exciting concentration of established showjumping blood and proven performance.
