D.O.B 08/10/2025 – Rivendell Theoden ( Titanic x Larino ) x Rivendell Cayenne ( Rivendell Sirandipity x StPrSt Celine Dion )
Rivendell Twist and Shout combines some of the most influential European showjumping blood represented in the Rivendell breeding programme. His pedigree brings together Titanic, Cavalier, Larino, Concorde, Sir Shutterfly, Silvio I, Calvaro Z, Ramiro Z, Calido I and Escudo I.
SIRE LINE — RIVENDELL THEODEN
Twist and Shout is by Rivendell Theoden, who is currently competing successfully at 1.40m level. This achievement adds significant value to the pedigree, as Theoden is not only bred from proven jumping lines but is also demonstrating the scope, athleticism, rideability and competitive ability required for advanced sport.
Theoden is one of the last offspring of the imported Belgian stallion Titanic. He therefore represents a particularly valuable continuation of Titanic’s blood at Rivendell. Titanic established an exceptional reputation as a showjumping stallion in South Africa and brought with him the proven European blood of Cavalier and Joost.
Theoden’s current 1.40m performance is especially significant because it provides direct, contemporary evidence of the quality of this sire line. Twist and Shout is not simply descended from successful jumping horses; he is by a stallion actively proving himself at a demanding level of competition.
Titanic was by the internationally successful KWPN stallion Cavalier, with Joost appearing as his damsire.
Titanic became one of the important performance stallions used by Rivendell and was regarded by the stud as one of the outstanding showjumping stallions seen in South Africa. His influence is particularly significant because his blood combines proven sport performance with established European jumping families.
Through Theoden, Titanic’s influence is carried forward by a son who is now competing at 1.40m. This gives Twist and Shout a direct link not only to Titanic’s breeding value but also to Theoden’s proven ability in higher-level sport.
Cavalier competed internationally under the name San Patrignano Mister with German rider Franke Sloothaak.
The combination achieved more than 40 international victories across Grand Prix, Puissance and Speed competitions. Cavalier subsequently became an important KWPN breeding stallion and produced numerous international showjumpers.
Cavalier is by Maykel and out of Wina by Orthos, from the respected Dutch Sina performance family. That maternal family produced numerous international sport horses, reinforcing the depth behind Titanic rather than relying on a single successful individual.
Titanic’s maternal pedigree introduces another important name through Joost.
The Holstein-bred Joost became an influential sire within Dutch sport-horse breeding and was particularly recognised for producing international showjumpers. His presence behind Titanic adds another established performance influence to Twist and Shout’s direct paternal line.
THEODEN’S MATERNAL LINE — LARINO × CONCORDE
The strength of Theoden’s pedigree does not come from Titanic alone.
Theoden is out of the premium mare StPrSt Zivana, whose sire is Larino. Zivana has proven herself as an important Rivendell broodmare, producing open showjumpers including Rivendell Black Pepper, Rivendell Zoid and Rivendell Theoden.
Theoden’s own success at 1.40m level is especially important in this context. It demonstrates that the combination of Titanic on the sire side and Larino through his dam has produced a horse with the athleticism, scope, rideability and competitive ability required for advanced showjumping.
Larino brings a particularly strong KWPN jumping pedigree. He is a son of Concorde, while his dam Erina is by Armstrong, a son of the enormously influential Ramiro line.
Larino’s maternal family is also performance tested. Rivendell records that his great-granddam Rosalinda (Cassy) received a 10 for jumping under saddle at her IBOP and later won numerous 1.30m classes.
This gives Theoden an interesting combination: Titanic and Cavalier on the sire side, coupled with Larino, Concorde and Ramiro influence through his dam. Theoden’s current 1.40m record confirms that this combination has translated into genuine competitive performance.
Behind Larino stands Concorde, one of the major names in modern Dutch jumping breeding.
Concorde combined sport performance with enormous influence as a breeding stallion and produced numerous horses competing internationally. His appearance through Larino adds another established performance-producing line to Theoden’s pedigree.

DAM LINE — RIVENDELL CAYENNE
Twist and Shout’s dam, Rivendell Cayenne, brings an equally concentrated collection of international jumping blood.
Cayenne is by Rivendell Sirandipity and out of StPrSt Celine Dion, combining the blood of Sir Shutterfly, Silvio I, Calvaro Z, Ramiro Z, Calido I and Escudo I.
Cayenne also brings proven performance of her own to the pedigree. As a five-year-old, she won the 1.20m Victor Ludorum, demonstrating her scope, athleticism, rideability and competitive ability at an early stage of her career. This achievement is particularly valuable in a broodmare, as it confirms that the dam line is supported not only by strong breeding but also by direct competition performance.
Her Victor Ludorum success adds an important performance dimension to Twist and Shout’s maternal line. He is therefore descended from a dam who had already proven herself in the showjumping arena before entering the breeding programme.
Rivendell Sirandipity is by Sir Shutterfly out of StPrSt Calvyra Z, a Calvaro Z × Ramiro Z mare.
Sirandipity’s own stallion performance testing provides particularly interesting evidence of his jumping qualities. Rivendell records scores of 10.0 for scope, 9.75 and 9.5 for technique, and 9.0 for temperament and character.
His pedigree therefore combines the Shutterfly family on the sire side with two monumental jumping influences — Calvaro Z and Ramiro Z — through his dam.
Sir Shutterfly is the full brother of the legendary international showjumper Shutterfly, ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum.
Their dam, Famm, was named Hanoverian Mare of the Year in 2007 and became a remarkable producer. In addition to Shutterfly and Sir Shutterfly, her offspring include the approved stallion Salut Bonheur and international jumpers Spilo D, Remedi D and Let’s Fly.
Sir Shutterfly himself demonstrated considerable jumping talent. Rivendell records his competition career to 1.30m and highlights his technique, reflexes and intelligence.
Sir Shutterfly is by Silvio I, an influential son of Sandro.
This introduces another established performance sire line, while the maternal side of Sir Shutterfly brings in Thoroughbred influence through Forrest xx. That Thoroughbred component is significant in a jumping pedigree because it contributes additional refinement and athletic blood to a pedigree otherwise strongly concentrated around continental warmblood jumping lines.
Sirandipity’s dam, StPrSt Calvyra Z, is by the great Calvaro Z.
Calvaro Z represents classic Holsteiner jumping blood. His sire Caletto I was himself an international showjumper and an enormously influential breeding stallion, while Calvaro’s dam Rixa was by Capitol I, another cornerstone of Holstein jumping breeding.
Calvaro Z therefore brings together the Caletto/Cor de la Bryère influence with the Capitol line — two enormously important components of modern international showjumping breeding.
Behind Calvaro Z in Sirandipity’s maternal pedigree is Ramiro Z, one of the foundation sires of modern sport-horse breeding.
Ramiro’s influence extends through generations of international performers and breeding stallions. Perhaps his most celebrated offspring was Ratina Z, one of the great championship mares of international showjumping.
The presence of Ramiro blood is especially interesting in Twist and Shout because another branch of the Ramiro influence also appears through Larino’s dam line on Theoden’s side. The pedigree therefore draws on this influential jumping family from more than one direction.

THE CELINE DION MATERNAL FAMILY
Cayenne is out of StPrSt Celine Dion, an important foundation mare in the Rivendell programme.
Celine Dion is by Calido I and out of an Escudo I mare. Her significance is enhanced by her own production record: Rivendell identifies her as the dam of international stallion Salito, as well as Rivendell Chancellor and open showjumper Rivendell Quintessence.
Calido I is one of the most recognisable Holsteiner jumping sires represented in the pedigree.
His pedigree carries the influential Holstein blood of Cor de la Bryère and Capitol, and his success as a breeding stallion was demonstrated by large numbers of successful jumping offspring and approved stallion sons.
Rivendell’s historical pedigree information records Calido with an FN jumping breeding value of 144 and notes that, by the 2007 Hanoverian Stallion Book, 496 of his offspring were competing in jumping, including 98 at advanced level.
He was also particularly prominent at the 2004 Bundeschampionate, where his offspring included the five-year-old jumping champion Coster and reserve champion Clintwood.
Calido’s presence immediately behind Celine Dion gives Cayenne’s maternal family another substantial source of proven jumping ability.
Behind Celine Dion is Escudo I, adding further Hanoverian performance blood to the maternal family.
This means Celine Dion is not simply important because of her pedigree: she combines established jumping sires with a demonstrated record as a broodmare whose offspring have progressed into high-level sport and breeding.
THE OVERALL COMBINATION
The pedigree of Rivendell Twist and Shout is particularly interesting because it layers several of Europe’s established jumping families:
Theoden → Titanic → Cavalier, supported maternally by Larino → Concorde.
Against this, Cayenne contributes Sirandipity → Sir Shutterfly → Silvio I, together with Calvaro Z → Caletto I/Capitol I and Ramiro Z.
The bottom maternal line then adds Celine Dion → Calido I × Escudo I.
The result is a pedigree with considerable depth. Rather than depending upon one famous stallion, Twist and Shout carries proven jumping influences repeatedly through both his sire and dam lines, backed by important Rivendell foundation mares including StPrSt Zivana, StPrSt Calvyra Z and StPrSt Celine Dion.
Most importantly, his sire Rivendell Theoden is currently competing at 1.40m level, providing direct and current performance evidence for the paternal line. His dam, Rivendell Cayenne, won the 1.20m Victor Ludorum as a five-year-old, adding proven maternal performance to the pedigree.
Twist and Shout therefore combines a strong genetic foundation with performance-proven parents: a sire competing successfully at 1.40m and a dam who demonstrated her competitive ability by winning the 1.20m Victor Ludorum at five years of age.
For a showjumping prospect, this represents a deliberate concentration of scope, technique, athleticism, rideability, performance and proven maternal families across multiple generations.
