D.O.B  02/12/2025 – Rivendell Lamborghini ( Lissabon x Calvaro Z ) x Zivana ( Larino x H TIVANO )

Ziggy Stardust is the last progeny of legendary mare Zivana who was imported from Holland by the Callaho Stud. Rivendell Stud bought her at the Callaho auction in 2011.
Zivana produced several open showjumpers for us, including Rivendell Black Pepper, Rivendell Zoid, Rivendell Kiterunner, Rivendell Theoden as well as others who are still climbing up the ranks.

Zivana was by the grey stallion Larino who was a son of the sports horse producer of the 21st century, Olympic Concorde. Concorde sired a great number of progeny that performed at international level.

In his pedigree, Larino boasts several famous and successful showjumper producers. Larino’s dam Erina was a daughter of the famous Ramiro offspring, Armstrong. Larino’s damline produced several top sport horses as well.

Grandmother Warina, by Ridder, was a ster-preferent-performance mare. She produced the international jumper Romulus, who was second in the Grand Prix of Gothenburg with Peter Geerink and the approved stallion Couperus. He is for example the sire of the famous stallion Mr. Blue, who jumps extraordinary well with Alice Haas.

At Ermelo during the 70 day Performance Test, Larino was described by the jury as a stallion who jumps with a very good fore-leg technique and a very good use of the back. Moreover Larino shows a lot of scope and a superb canter.
At the first round of the Stallion Competition at Giesbeek Larino was awarded two times a nine for his jumping technique and scope.

In 1999 Larino and Peter Geerink started their international career by participating successfully in the Youngster Cup at Arnhem, The Hague and Mechelen and he was awarded the best young stallion. In 2001 Larino made his Grand Prix debut in style. He finished 2th in The Hague, 3th in Valkenswaard and he had a fantastic clear round in the nations cup in Rotterdam, as well as equal 6th in the Grand Prix. He was the youngest competitor at the Dutch Championships in Mierlo, where he finished 6th.

Zivana’s damsire Iroko is one of the most influential Sires, with his Keur Award proving itself repeatedly as a leading sire of Stallion sons, brood mares, World Cup progeny in both Dressage & Showjumping, and also eventing.

His sire Pilot was famously known as jumping progenitor of the nineties, claiming a top ranking in the german index with 193 points. Iroko is bred out of the State Premium Awarded Mare, Bianca, a daughter of the famous Sire Bengale.

Zivana’s greatdamsire Burggraaf was very successful in the heavier classes of the National Stallion Competition, of which he won the finals and six of the seven rounds. Later he was an international showjumper with Roelof Bril; they cleared the 2.10 m during the puissance of Indoor Brabant in 1991 and in 1993 they were reserve champion of the 1.40 class for KWPN stallions. Burggraaf has a very high jumping index of 152 points.

Burggraaf’s sire is the top breeding stallion Landgraf I, who produced over 50 approved stallions and over 70 state premium mares just in Germany, and heads the German yearbook with the total winnings of his progeny of over 6 million D-Marks. Burggraaf’s dam’s sire is the famous sports horse producer Cor de la Bryere.

Lamborghini, Ziggy Stardust’s sire, is by he imported stallion Lissabon and out of StPrSt Calvyra Z.

Lissabon’s father, Lordanos, continues to entrench himself as one of the finest sires of show-jumpers in Europe, having already produced more than 23 licensed sons and scores of champions at all levels. His damsire Sion is a remarkable all-rounder who passes on plenty of “blood” and excellent gaits. The granddam Reinata (by Contender) is a full sister to the international competition mare Charisma (Markus Fuchs). This performance dam-line is further anchored by jumper breeding legends, Grannus and Siegesmund.

After his approval, Lissabon won both sections of his stallion performance test in Oldenburg. Trained by Heinrich Döwe, in 2003 he won 8 out of his 9 classes for young riding horses, including the prestigious Damhus Cup. During his 5th and 6th year he was a serial winner up to M-level and won the Damhus Cup again.

Thereafter Lissabon went to the Bundeschampionate Finals with Johannes Ehning, where he received outstanding scores of up to 9.3 for style. During 2006/2007 he continued his stellar career with Jens Baackmann, crowning 2007 with a victory in Vechta in the youngster tour (1.5m).

Lissabon’s short breeding record in Germany is equally remarkable. In addition to multiple champion foals and state premium mares, he produced four licensed sons of which Lissacor (Westphalia) and Lissaro van der Helle (Hannover) were awarded Premium. In 2010 Lissaro rewrote history by winning his third consecutive gold medal at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf as well as being runner-up at the World Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Verden. During his brief tenure as a breeding stallion in Germany, statistics based on progeny generated by their National Federation reveal that he was was placed well within the top 1% of all jumper sires, and remarkably, also within the top 10% of Dressage stallions. His combined score objectively affirmed his placing as the best dual-purpose sire of Warmblood stallions across all studbooks in Germany.

Here in South Africa, after having served his sixth consecutive breeding season, this magnificent stallion has proven himself, beyond any shadow of a doubt, to be a sire of Warmblood sport-horses in a class of his very own.

Calvyra is by the stallion Calvaro Z.  Calvaro’s sire Caletto I, is famous for producing showjumpers. His mother Deka by Consul made breeding history as mother of five approved sons. Caletto I was one of the most successful horses in showjumping. Calvaro’s dam Rixa, is a daughter of one of the most famous stallions, Capitol I. He produced Grand Prix jumpers and approved stallions like, Carthago Z., Cento, Cassini I, Capriol, Indoctro, Cumano etc. In Calvaro’s dam lineage there is the influential Farnese son Fantus to a Hanoverian female line that carries the blood of Sesam II and Goldfisch II, one of the most influential bloodlines in Hannover.

Lamborghini, himself, competed successfully at GP and WCQ as a nine year old already.

Calvyra Z is also the dam of Rivendell Sirandipity, Rivendell Numerology, Rivendell Champagne, Rivendell Cilantro and Rivendell Braveheart.
